Getting started - how to use Diamond

Watch the video: Producer introduction · Adding cast and crew · Sending surveys · Confirming completion

About to start production?

You should receive an email from Diamond with an invitation from your commissioning broadcaster, or other funder, to take ownership of your project.

Review the request and click on the link to accept. If it's not your organisation's project it has been assigned to you in error – please reject the invitation.

You need to be a Project Manager or Admin user type to accept the invitation – if you are not, forward the invitation to a colleague who is. If you are new to the tool, sign up your organisation and create an account (you will be an Admin by default). Please check with colleagues first to ensure your organisation doesn't already have an account.

Then follow these steps

  1. Add project details.
  2. Engage and encourage your cast and crew to participate.
  3. Upload their role, name and email or Diamond linking code from your cast and crew lists. Remember not to upload the details of anyone who has opted out.
  4. Send the survey invitations once production starts.
  5. Update your cast and crew lists as they change throughout the course of production.
  6. Invite your post-production suppliers.
  7. Provide perceived data.
  8. Confirm you've completed these steps before requesting approval from your funder. Download your completion certificate, if you wish.

Get started and add your contributors as soon as practical after production starts, when most individuals are engaged and likely to contribute.

Note: all Diamond broadcasters will initiate projects on your behalf and then invite you to take ownership of them. It is possible to initiate your own projects in the tool, but these would need to be verified by an authorised funder before becoming active. Please do not initiate your own projects in the tool unless your broadcaster explicitly requests it – this helps us prevent duplication. More about this here.
